Founded in 2003, A Long Walk Home, Inc. (ALWH) is a Chicago-based national non-profit that uses art to educate, inspire, and mobilize young people to end violence against girls and women.

A Long Walk Home would like to congratulate our Executive Director, Scheherazade Tillet who was selected by the NoVo Foundation to be one of twenty new leaders selected to join its groundbreaking Move to End Violence program, a 10-year, $80 million program to strengthen leaders and organizations and build a breakthrough movement to end violence against girls and women in the United States.

A Long Walk Home is proud to announce that Salamishah Tillet, our Co-founder, was selected to be featured as one of 50 global heroes, amongst Hillary Clinton and Eve Ensler, ending violence against children in a new global, digital magazine called Safe which is supported by Together For Girls. The premiere issue of the magazine, which launches on December 7th at the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, highlights and celebrates those people and organizations leading the way in the fight to end sexual violence against boys and girls around the world.
